Right. I've been thinking for a while that we actually have too many places where it's possible to ask questions and/or hold discussions, and they're not being used because there are so many areas.

My idea for tidying it all up it to move the threads in the Naval Queries and Military Queries into the general History Discussion board and lose the Naval/Military Queries areas from the site.

Questions and threads posted under Admiralty Orders and Horseguards Orders would be moved to the History Discussion area and Admiralty/Horseguards Orders would be renamed to something more relevant to Terpsy and the 2nd Division and the muster list and other relevant threads/lists would be moved there, leaving Despatches available for simple plotting and storyline discussion.

The poll will last for 14 days, and if you'd rather vote and comment anonymously, you may. Please only vote once, although you may comment in the thread as many times as you like.

I vote for making some of the changes. I say:
1. Move the queries into the discussion section.
2. Leave the admiralty/horseguards section alone, or just put them in Despatches.

I think of the History Discussion section as general stuff (like what kind of clothes would people wear) and the Despatches as more specific to the game (like does anyone want to make a thread where XYZ happens.) There might end up being some overlap, but I think it's good to at least have two separate sections for those things.

Maybe there can be some cross referencing, like "History discussion - a place to discuss history etc. If you want to plan events in the game itself, you can discuss it in Despatches."

I only think that the Terpsy threads should be moved out of dispatches somewhere else, where they'll be more easily and logically found. If not being given a separate topic - in ways of seeing and accessing from the main page, then perhaps moving it into the navy queries or such thread. Somewhere where you'd be able to guess as to it being there. I'm talking of course about anything relating to Terpsy, from the muster list to the deck plans, silly letters Bolitho might have written, etc.

I don't think the different discussion areas are not being used due to there being as many, but simply that we sometimes have nothing to discuss much? I dunno. Anyhow, for now I'd leave the rest as it is.
