I've edited the look of the board a little bit, and can put it back if people don't like it. At the moment, the sub-forums are showing on the main homepage, rather than only showing as links.

I think it's too long and information overload for newcomers. On my fairly large monitor it fills up 9 pages. I have to scroll through 5 pages to get at the RP stuff. A newcomer will want to go straight to reading the RP stuff or the characters section, but they'll have to stop and read all 4 previous pages of things they scroll through to look for it. They won't know that they can scroll down 5 pages to get right to the good stuff.

(I myself would never bother to read the rules and game planning stuff first. I'd jump to the game and characters stuff first, just to see if I was interested. It's like the preface to a novel that assumes you've already read the novel. If I haven't read the novel yet, I don't care about what was going on in Charlotte Bronte's life, or who Mr. Rochester is based on, because who's Mr. Rochester? What, he has a secret wife? Was I supposed to know this? Don't tell me that stuff now! Just give me the story! I always skip those prefaces in novels.)

This page design tutorial suggests shorter pages for home pages and menus, maybe 2 pages in scrolling length. What if there was a shorter home page for visitors to see first, maybe with just the categories that are boxed in red right now? With super basic self-explanatory titles, like "Welcome and rules" "Game threads" "Characters" "Fun stuff" etc. I myself definitely get overwhelmed when hit with a lot of information that I need to sift through.

I actually agree with Sans - it's a bit of a sensory overload for first coming onto the page. The way it was before was easily navigated, but wasn't quite that much on the page.
