Re: Hello to our newest players
Welcome to the game! Hope you enjoy it.
I do not think our chars will get along though as my character is a French soldier, a young recruit but a patriotic one!

Welcome!
Most of my characters are Grande Armee, but I believe I have an NPC or 3 kicking around with the British, so perhaps we will run into one another!

Wow, we seem to have really expanded the ranks recently! I guess I've been away too long. Seeing as how I don't recognize more than half the people in this thread, a lot of you are new to me! So a belated welcome to anyone I haven't met!

Re: Hello to our newest players
G'day all,
This type of thing i havent done before but always dabbled in a bit of roleplay on other games that unfortunately have shut down over the years.
Very keen to give it a go.
My era of happiness is more along the roman legion but this sounds fun
Thanks and look forward to writing.

Bonjour Mon Ami's
Charles Jean-Claude St. Sauveur, 1st LT on the French corvette Revenant reporting aboard.
I ran a simular game but sat in 1811 for Neverwulf, hobbob and Banesblade; Napoleon's Bleeding Ulcer, and we've all are coming over here to boost numbers and have more friends to play with.
So while we wait for final approval I'll just say we look forward to RPing with you.
And watch out English frigate, there's now a Ghost on the loose.

Re: Hello to our newest players
Hi people! Welcome to Show the Colours, hope you all settle in OK!
(I'd just like to remind folks that we're an account-per-character game and prefer you to have an account for each character. You may need to use a different email to register, but once that's done you can change it in your account settings, or ask me to do so for you, so that PM notifications etc go to your preferred email address.)

Re: Hello to our newest players
Bonjour!
Second Mate Jacques O'pont, reporting for duty. I've played only 2 games like this so far, one of which is being now absorbed into this, and I've found that they're very interesting, very compelling. I hope that this'll all go well, escpecially and naval PvP and the like.
I look forward to this.

Hey new folks, welcome to the game!
I'm one of the writers who enjoys playing the French also.
I might have to put a guy on the new ship.

Welcome, hobbob, Nebless, and NeverWolf (and Banesblade) :-) I play on the English Navy (surgeon and sailor).

Hello all the new people!
I'm Casper, currently signed in as my main char, Captain Henry Fraser. Though I am planning on making a tough-as-nails French petty officer character. I would love to make him a sailing master, but my knowledge on sailing isn't that good We'll see what I make of him.

Re: Hello to our newest players
I've already said hello in the c-box, but I'll make a more "formal" introduction and welcome here.
Welcome to StC!
I'm Koenig (if you haven't already guessed). I have British characters for just about any purpose. My main one being Jean Delacroix, a French royalist in the 60th Rifles. But as of yet, I have no characters fighting for the French.

Re: Hello to our newest players
Wow, lots of new people! Hello all!
I'm Biggles, and though I'm currently under the guise of a very silly and pompous army officer, I also play Bolitho and Bush. So basically I'm responsible for a good chunk of the Terpsy's command! And while Bolitho may not be pleased to know there will be a French ship prowling the waters, his player is very glad to hear that! Maybe we can get into some action sometime!

Re: Hello to our newest players
Greetings. Took me forever to find someplace like this I have created an application here:
https://showthecolours.forumakers.com/t2223-baron-von-dornheim#112842
Looking forward to RPing the entire family mentioned in the application.
ABOUT ME
8 years of previous RP experience on a Geo-Political forum. Im 'Merican and fairly obsessed with history, especially that of the Napoleonic kind.
Currently working in law enforcement while just starting graduate school for US History and preparing for FSU's Napoleonic history phd program. My personal interests include hockey, rugby (played at uni), Top Gear (uk), and booze.
I am a fan of the Hornblower book series and Sharpe movie series and have just started Bolitho.
My favorite movies are Barry Lyndon and Danton.
I like long walks on the beach and and to be wined and dined.
Cheers.

Re: Hello to our newest players
Thanks! Napoleonic era is probably my favorite era although my other niche areas include Austrian history 1700-1919, Maltese history 1520-1965, general British history, and cold war history. I am very very pleased to be here and though I have some ambitious ideas, I'll move slowly. I don't want to be ambitious, but rubbish!Sharpiefan wrote:Hello there and welcome to Show the Colours (fondly known as StC).

Re: Hello to our newest players
We welcome ideas from members old and new - don't worry about that!
The only thing to really be aware of is that, while we're trying to be historically accurate as far as 'people, manners, places and books', our battles etc are going to be AU because it's more fun that way than RPing a history text.

clear on the accuracy. Just to clarify, what is AU?Sharpiefan wrote:We welcome ideas from members old and new - don't worry about that!

Re: Hello to our newest players
Alternate Universe. We're trying to stick to the broad outline of the Peninsular War, but the one time we RP'd an actual historical battle the way it occurred, it was deadly dull because we found were a little too constrained by sticking to the historical books.
These days, we plan a battle as an event and what happens, happens.
