7th October: Charming play

The countess thought for a moment, then suggested:

"A load off your mind? A relief? You really would not be a burden - we certainly have room enough, and the servants are used to guests. You might also enjoy the whirl of social engagements - your aunt still holds salons and will take you around in the best circles, but she has reached an age where one can be highly selective of what events one chooses to grace with one's presence."

"One of those, yes. Thank you." She smiled and inclined her head lightly. "Well then, I would be honoured, if I may become your guest. I believe my friend's family will be most grateful to you too. They all seem quite excited to explore some of England and also to visit Captain Burlingame at his home and well, this might be the last time in a while that they can spend with her."

"Certainly - let me know when we may expect you. Edward, you will see that somebody takes care of her luggage, won't you."

Edward nodded.

"Just let me know - my staff is at your disposal."

The countess nodded at her son approvingly. This settled, she turned back to her guest and inquired:

"When do Lady Ines' relatives plan to start their exploration?"

Estefania nodded thankfully. She was very grateful for the offer and for the possibility of being able to sort the problem which weighed on the mind of her friend and her family as well as her own.

"Thank you, I am very indebted to you." She spoke to both Torrington, who would help her with her belongings and to his mother who was welcoming her into her home, something she need not do, but never the less did.

Of course it did not mean she would rather burden one family over the other and she hoped to be able in some way to return the kind gesture.

"They are planning to leave, if all goes well and all is sorted and prepared, the day after the wedding, and at the latest the morning after that. They are first planning to stay with the Burlingames. I do not know exactly how long they mean to stay with them, until they will take off again and have the tour of England." She smiled. "I would suppose a week or two but I will ask if they have made their mind up."
