late in the day, 22nd May, Surgeon's tent
After seeing to his men both wounded and otherwise, the young lieutenant made his way to the surgeon's tent with Willoughby, still mounted, looking rather pale with his makeshift bandage soaked in his own blood. He very slowly dismounted, having to grip the saddle tightly as his leg buckles under him, he would slowly straighten his weight all on his good leg, he waited for Willoughby to dismount so that he could take his stallion's reins.
"Bloody damned leg has gone numb Willoughby, be a good lad and take my reins and see to it that the grooms take good care of him, oh and see if you can find the captain? I really should report to him."

Re: late in the day, 22nd May, Surgeon's tent
"Yes sir." Willoughby had unsaddled rather quickly and reached out to take the reins of his lieutenant's stallion. He looked at the man and with two curt nods and a quick, yes sir, confirmed he understood and was about to do as ordered. "Captain Pierce, sir? Should I ask him, that he comes to the surgeons?" He asked keeping the two horse's heads well apart from each other. No need to have them bite or have any other less exemplary reaction while he had them in his custody.
He did look more concerned though of the wound and the paleness of the man's skin. Atleast now, not too long from it, a surgeon would come out rushing and would take good care of the officer and see to it, hopefully, that he does not loose his leg, but that too he would rest as much as the wound would require.

Re: late in the day, 22nd May, Surgeon's tent
He hobbles to the edge of the tent and takes a seat on an overturned bucket, "yes, I think that would be best as I'm not too sure when I will be able to report to him my self." he winces, and calls into the tent for an orderly...with a far more colourful vocabulary

Willoughby nodded, saluted again and took his leave as quickly as he generally could. He took the two horses each to their designated spots, one would have obviously been better off than the other. Once the horses had been delivered he searched for the whereabouts of the captain, and upon a few of the troopers pointing to his location and what they have either heard or seen, he had arrived at the headquarters.
There he requested to see the man and upon the report that he was asked whether he could come to the surgeon's tent, Willoughby again returned to report on the said actions.
He too had added that Captain Pierce would be soon in presenting himself.

Pierce, scowling, limped towards the tent. "Cathcart, are you here?" His voice sounded more than irritated.

The lieutenant in question was laying on a cot still waiting for a surgeon to see to him, his blood soaked bandaged leg was clearly visible. still looking quite pale he would call out. "Over here Sir."

Re: late in the day, 22nd May, Surgeon's tent
Pierce approached the cot, his frown deeping. "Well, at least you have an excuse for summoning your commanding officer like he is no more than a messenger boy." He looked down at the lad's wound. His own wound, a cut to the thigh received earlier that day twinged in compassion. "How bad is it?"

Re: late in the day, 22nd May, Surgeon's tent
he blinks and then shakes his head slightly "Sorry sir, that was not at all my intention, its from a musket ball, only hit meat apparently, as long as it doesn't get infected it should only need some stitching or so the surgeon said."
He reaches into his coat and pulls out a torn piece of paper and offers it over to Pierce. "butchers bill sir, from a run in with French infantry in light woods, the Provosts are brining in the prisoners including a French lieutenant, thought I should report to you my self sir, though can barely stand and thought I should have the leg looked at first sir."

Pierce grabs the paper from Lieutenant's hand and reads it. It should be physically impossible for the scowl on his face to deepen further but it does. "I suppose it was for the better, I don't need you bleeding all over the 15th quarters and I certainly had enough of fainting men." Pierce paused and looked Cathcart over carefully, noting the man's paleness. "And where in hell is the surgeon?"

"Dealing with the worst of the men first sir."
The list in the very least did not list any dead...well any dead men. "Hell of a country for calvary sir, bloody horrid ground."

"So it is, but should we lose encounter remember not to blame the loss on the ground. A bad dancer always blames the stage," The corners of Pierce's mouth curled a tiny fraction upwards to show that he was not in fact insulting the younger man's skill.

Re: late in the day, 22nd May, Surgeon's tent
he chuckles slightly at that. "aye, I'll try to remember that sir, might I add sir that without Trooper Willoughby it is unlikely that we would have captured the French officer? it was he who spotted the man separated from all but two of his men."

Re: late in the day, 22nd May, Surgeon's tent
Pierce raises an eyebrow. "Indeed? Well, perhaps, it was a right decision not to hang him after all."

He blinks repeatedly "Hanged sir? what ever did he do to almost get himself hanged?"

Re: late in the day, 22nd May, Surgeon's tent
Pierce shifts on his legs, his own wound hurting more and more from prolonged standing. "Really, Cathcart, have you been living under a rock? The boy was suspected of desertion. But Major McIntyre has been good enough to believe than he did in fact get lost," the last two words are said with some distaste.

"Ah...No sir, just didn't relies that was the same man sir, I am still realitively new to the 15th as it is sir."

"Yes, and already injured," Pierce limped towards the tent's entrance and bellowed: "Willoughby, go see where in God's name all the surgeons got to."

"well have to have some scars to show the ladies now don't I?" he winks and grins.

Re: late in the day, 22nd May, Surgeon's tent
"And exactly how do you propose to show this particular scar to the ladies? If indeed you are going to be showing it to ladies..." Pierce's lips twitch with amusement.

Re: late in the day, 22nd May, Surgeon's tent
"Sir, yes sir!" Willoughby snapped to attention from where he had stood infront of the tent, waiting to be dismissed or called in. Which he just did, the latter of the two. He peeked in, glanced at the two men, nodded sharply again and went to look for one of the Army's surgeons which was stationed further from the two men.
He nodded curtly to the man, Johnson or was it Joh...well he wasn't sure what the man's last name was and it didn't quite matter. Quickly he explained why he was needed - and so the other rushed towards where the lieutenant was held with his injury.

Re: late in the day, 22nd May, Surgeon's tent
he strokes his chin for a few moments thinking "hmm you do have a point there sir, I will have to make a note to get wounded above the waist next time, far easier to show off I think." he chuckles and looks up at the surgeon's appearance. "it just needs stitches not removing, got it?"

Pierce's frown reappeared. "You are not planning to keep the bullet in the wound, I hope?"

"Very well then, I believe I shall get out of Doctor's way now, Cathcart. Good day," Pierce nodded to the younger man and left the tent.

Re: late in the day, 22nd May, Surgeon's tent
Willoughby stood outside, greeting captain Pierce with a salute as he appeared on the way out. He was sure that he could now depart to take care of his horse as well and see to whatever injury he had sustained during the battle. Well, his horse and he anyway. But he still waited for a few moments to see if he was needed.
Inside the surgeon had taken a look at the injury and upon seeing it not to be one holding a bullet inside he had wiped at it to clear away the blood and see that there was nothin left inside of the wound that shouldn't, such as fabric as well.
