Billeting
I was just wondering...Presumably when the army is on the march officers will be sleeping in tents, unless in the city. Do you think as ADC my tent will have to be close to Wellington's and would I have to stay in the same house with him when such quarters are available? *No I'm not thinking about slash, just the possibility of sneaking away*

Re: Billeting
As far as I'm aware the General and his 'family' did share the same house/building, although of course they would spread themselves out within that house or building.
I should think that ADCs would have to be within call when in bivouac (camp) as well.

Re: Billeting
I write myself a tent, which might not be proper, but saves me coming up with 'ruined castle/farm outhouse/old chapel' descriptions every time I need to meet people in the evening. The aides did tend to bed down close to the General, and were usually under cover.

Re: Billeting
Thank you both! So presumably, considering there would be sentries with the General, sneaking away would raise some eyebrows?

Re: Billeting
Sneaking anywhere would certainly raise eyebrows, yes.
I can definitely assure you of that...

Re: Billeting
Damn, and Wellesley already dislikes me....Maybe I should be a revolutionary ADC and camp with Chosen Men

I can assure you that nobody else is thinking about slash, Mister Hunter. And anybody wandering into the wrong bedroom at any time of the night will be forcibly ejected.
But seriously, as an ADC you have quite a lot of freedom of movement. The sentries are only there to protect 1) any stores, 2) sensitive papers (but being an ADC you could possibly persuade a few sentries that you need to see such papers), and 3) the General's person.

Re: Billeting
Still, I think an ADC sneaking would be more noticeable: suppose his Snarkiness wakes up and wants to make your life hell in the middle of the night and you are nowhere to be found?

Re: Billeting
Probably you would be more suspicious if you went *sneak*sneak* rather than. *walk*walk* . Ofcourse, don't you forget your duties to the general!
And to that, even ADC's need to go take a leak .

LMAO XDTimothy Willoughby wrote:*sneak*sneak* rather than. *walk*walk* . Ofcourse, .
Well, I really was thinking along the lines of 'Where have you been the whole night?' rather than 'It takes you half an hour to relieve yourself?!'

Re: Billeting
Well, it all depends on what you've eaten. The bowel movements in the army.. .a terrible, precarious thing! But where do you intend to go for the whole night? If you were awake for too many of them your eyes would droop to the floor, they would! ... eh, SIR! :p
Re: Billeting
Spyhattery, e.g. if you were told, oh so snd so can come to that village to meet you, and that damn village is a good few miles off the army's position.

Re: Billeting
Teehee. You might meet Stephen on one of his spyhatting excursions to meet his contacts in the nearby villages. Awkward.

Re: Billeting
Oh, no, you see, Stephen is compassionate and kind and treating suspicious locals for their huge wads of information on artillery which need extracting immediately. Like stones. ¬¬

And then you shall have Maturin keeping Hunter under close observation because of his chronically terrible digestion...

Re: Billeting
You are a captain, so surely I should say Sir. *nod*
Hehe,.. aww, the reunion of the spyhatters.
Bot nae you worry sir. A night might possibly be excused, you only have to hope that sir Arthur does not need you through it. If a Village is near by.. could they not also suspect that you're jus' out fer a drink? Don't know how it is with the officers, sir.
Though be dire careful on using the same excuse too often....not that I am telling you this x.X!

Re: Billeting
Well, not now, but then, if you play your cards right...Hehehe. I punched a wall in my sleep once, of course I woke up instantly.

Re: Billeting
Too damn true. I think it's better to persevere and refuse to dislike him no matter what and drive him nuts with that. XD
