How shall we handle the actual duel?

I think it would be nice if somebody would jump in and play a surgeon for the duel, by the way.

Do we want to start with them already in place? Or have more of a lead-up?

I have a feeling my surgeon might point blank refuse, but I'm sure I can press gang him into going if necessary. Though if someone else wants to play a surgeon, that would also be excellent (and probably much less unpleasant for the characters ).

Think actually it could be nice to have another person. That way we could PM them with what our chars will do and what damage we players are willing to let them take, and that person could post up the actual result - bit of surprise for us, too?

So you don't want to RP out the duel itself? Or did I totally misunderstand?

No, I meant we play the whole thing out up to the point when the actual shots are fired. Then we send a PM to the doctor stating where our char has aimed at, general ability to hit the spot, and amount of damage we are willing to take.
The doctor posts next what he sees - deciding what happens actually. Then we play on normally, acting on that.

Thought was to keep the tension and the chancieness of duel. And of course have a bit of fun ...

Oh! We're doing pistols? I don't know why I was thinking swords... which is why I was confused. *facepalm*

Ok, near as I can figure: Bastien initially told Etienne to press for swords, then told him to leave the choice to Jarreau, but Etienne said he'd still press for swords, and did. That's where it's been left so far, but I think that can be edited easily enough? Just swap words?

Then I would say swap? Or would you prefer swords? Can be done with swords as well.

Hey. So just checking... Are we still going with this idea? ie. Le Russe GMing the duel itself ? And if so, should we send those PMs now (what our characters will do/what damage we're willing to let them take)? Or will there be a little more back and forth between the characters first?

Cue some suitably dramatic music as the two duellists take their places!

I would say one more post each with the chars getting ready to shoot?
