Perhaps too harmless, what with him being a master-at-arms and the lad not feeling as if he were. Not atleast, at that moment.

"..Sir, a walk on the deck?" He wasn't too eager to be seen talking to this man. Not if Claggart would gain a reputation of one tyrant and a seeker of snitches. Could make others all the more suspicious and have him loose the people that he could nearly call friends.

"..I... don't think I have time." Then again, he should've learnt that a superior's word was law. "But.. do go there yourself, sir,.. it would be.. unjust not to miss the opportunity."
