Character Summary: When not at sea, Daubigny is a city man, more accustomed to balls and society manners than country life. A fashionable gentleman who probably comes across as snooty at times but is usually polite. He was probably given an expensive education, but that doesn't mean he's a scholarly bookish man. But at sea, one doesn't need to be bookish. A bit of dash and swashbuckling and looking fine in a uniform and shouting at others goes a long way. But for all his foolish foppishness, Daubigny is a fairly competent sailor. The book learning may not have sunk into his brain, but the sea and winds and sails somehow managed to get through that pretty head of his. And he does like the glamor of being a valiant hero with a shining sword. Average intelligence with the occasional spark of brilliance and more frequent moments of cluelessness.
