Sir,
Marine Drummer boy Thomas Shepard was found in possession of wins from illegal gambling. He admits to it and names Able Seaman John Seward as the other party involved, which was coroberated by his brother and accepted as likely by several others.
As his reputation is already tainted and his name was mentioned inofficially in connection with several unpleasant incidents, I will investigate this further. A search of his belongings is in progress and will likely substantiate or dispell the accusations. He will also be required for an interview before the matter is brought before the Captain. A sea officer as witness to these proceedings would be helpful.
