Strengths and Weaknesses: Mowett is a quite the jester, which goes well with his witty poetry aimed at the enemy. Even though his strength is poetry, it is also his biggest weakness as he can sometimes get lost in his own little world with it (even when on watch, which earns some stares from the crew).
Background: First served aboard the HMS Sophie as a masters mate under Captain Jack Aubrey, then briefly the second lieutenant of HMS Worcester, then finally transferred to the Surprise with Aubrey as second.

Writing Sample/Past Roleplay:
William settled into the boat nervously. It bobbed about, even with the weight of his sea chest and the rowers. "Mr Mowett, sir! You almost forgot this!" Bonden the coxswain passed down his hat carefully down into the boat and stepped away from the companionway, subdued by the demeaning look of the new lieutenant, Foster.
William looked up at the dear Surprise and her crew just once more. The pain was intolerable for him. All those years he had spent under Captain Aubrey with his friend Pullings and all the many different midshipmen.
Now he had to adapt to big changes..was he ready?
"Goodbye!" he called out nervously. A chorus of "good luck, sirs" followed him as the boat gently rowed away from the side.
William turned his mind to new matters - like his new comission in the HMS Terpsichore. He wondered what her captain would be like? Fair? Or perhaps he was unjust? Either way, William knew he had to make the best of the new oppurtunities for advancement offered to him..
