The game's afoot

I'm not sure how many folks are aware of the newest happenings with the 60th Rifles, but in summary, there was a incident on the night of the 1st July, which involved two Riflemen (Burke and Kirridge) being bitten by a dog. Kirridge wounded the dog on the shoulder with his knife after being bitten and the dog ran off. On the 3rd July, McIntyre (from the 33rd) came to the 60th's camp to try to find out more about the matter. The visit did not end well, owing to a short scuffle between himself and a Rifleman (Mayden). This led in part to the events of the afternoon of the 5th July, when Kirridge goes looking for McIntyre with a thought to pay him back for picking a fight with Mayden. Instead he nearly confronts the wrong redcoat. This is taking place at the same time as the ball game that involves the rest of Vickery's company.

My thought is to have somebody as yet unknown have a go at McIntyre, perhaps at night. It would be bad enough to land the old fellow in the surgeon's care for a while. The dog he has nominal responsibility for - at least while the poor creature is recovering from being knifed - either can disappear or be involved somehow in the attack on McIntyre. Given the recent events and interactions concerning the oldster and the Rifles, the incident may come to the Rifles' notice, whether directly or through Blackwood (whose regiment Vickery's company is attached to).

However it gets to be known, I'm thinking that it could be something of a murder mystery, without the murder. The various characters who have connections to the 60th could get involved in it, so it'd be a good way to include everyone. Plus it'd just be fun having a sort of whodunit. Maybe?

Sure! Maybe he or one of his lads was nearby, either to the scene of the attack or close enough to see the attacker flee? Or he could even be the one to come across McIntyre after he's down?

Definitely. I'm sure Sykes can find some way to get into trouble here... Whether he wants to or not.

I also have Knox and a handful of Coldstream NPCs if needed.

I've a feeling Sykes will find himself involved, for sure. So too the Coldstreamers, after a bit.
