Date for returning prisoners?

Should we pick a date for the French to send the prisoners back? Maybe the 9th? And I can't remember where the 2nd division is now. Would they have to send the prisoners to the 1st division, and then they'd work their way to the 2nd from there?

I figure I don't actually have much of a say in this as I'm not playing a (current) prisoner. But here's my penn'orth, for what it's worth.

We've got a ton of threads on the 11th, so I'd send them back - or at least let them arrive back - on the 12th.

And if you were to send them to the 1st Division, pretty much all the soldier types would be NPCs as we've only got PCs in the 2nd Division. But if you really wanted to send them to the 1st first, and didn't mind all the NPCs, who am I to complain?

(There. now I can go and say all that in the Cbox... )

If we're sending them straight back to the 2nd, I'd probably agree with the twelfth or so, if only because there seem to be a fair number of threads already for the days just preceding that. Might be interesting to return them to the 1st, though, and see how things go from there. I'd be game for contributing NPCs if everyone else was!

Got to admit, I'm going to be sad to lose all the activity on the French side. We should keep some of those characters going even after the prisoners are returned!

I think we can definitely keep activity in the French thread, because we've introduced characters there who can carry on living their lives. I like the French we've developed.

And maybe we could say they got sent to the 1st on the 9th but arrived with the 2nd on the 12th? And we can play or not with the 1st as we choose. (Or we can play in our own insular little huddle of refugees and ignore all the 1sties around us.)

One possible advantage to returning them to the 1st is that they can make their way back to the 2nd at their own pace and we can have individual reunion threads rather than have everything happening at once.

And seconded on keeping the action and characters going on the French side. This has been fun!

I would suggest perhaps having them return sometime later in the day on the 13th rather than 12th. There have been also threads on that day, which did not mention any happy times with the return of the prisoners. There's only been an encounter with the French between some Hussars, Redcoats and Greencoats. And of course there's been the displacement of Newbury also happening on that day.

So maybe later in that same day there ought to be some reason for cheering. As for what happens to them before that, is all the same. reaching the 1st first, or not. Is up to you.

As for the French. I've been keeping one before and will continue to play him. Hasn't really seen much of any of the others that had been playing with the women so again, i don't have much of a say there. But it would probably be fun for all that have French characters, if they were kept and more was done on that front.

You army men will just have to make sure you don't get too far ahead of us. We're still a few days behind.

Righto, if no one objects, we're going to say the 13th is the day the prisoners get reunited with the 2nd. If you have a character who cares about prisoners, don't write them pining away for them on the 14th. You can post ahead if you want, but we prisoners are still a bit behind, so you'll just have to wait for us to catch up.

The prisoners have returned now on the 13th, generally some time around the mapmaking thread. It's a separate thread though, so you mapmakers can choose when and where it happens without needing to interrupt your thread immediately.
