For King and Court

It has been almost three years since Henry VIII became King of England upon the death of his father, Henry VII. In that time the young king has married twice, losing his first wife and the son in a pair of twins in childbirth, and gaining the friendship of the Vatican by marrying Francesca de' Medici, the illegitimate daughter of the Pope who has been presented to the world as his niece. The new Queen has brought the culture of Italy to the English court, as well as a good deal of Catholic influence.

However, not all is well within England. Upstart Scots are becoming more aggressive in the north, and the French continue to assail the southern coast. War has finally been declared and those loyal to Henry VIII have departed with him to France or headed north to wage war against England's enemies and return victorious. Queen Francesca has stayed behind as regent with what England hopes to be a son growing in her belly.
