England's bells tolled as King Henry VII was laid to rest. The people mourned, but also waited with bated breath to see his only surviving son take his place on the throne of England. Within days, Henry VIII was crowned England's King. And the first thing on his royal agenda? To choose for himself a Queen. Without a Queen, legitimate heirs cannot be produced. No male heir would mean that there would be no one to finish the glory that His Majesty has yet to do.

Within a year of being crowned, the King had found his bride. Lady Madge Shelton, raised in the court of Savoy, has become Queen Margaret, and the people loved her for her charity and her simple beauty. Soon enough, the Queen was pregnant, but tragedy struck: she gave birth prematurely to a stillborn son and a sickly daughter, and died soon after from childbed fever. The court is in mourning, and so is the King, but the question is: will the King take another wife? Families line up to offer up their daughters for this most auspicious role, hoping the King will chose their family over others for the honor.

Scandal is not the only sin at court, though. Religious tensions flare as followers of Martin Luther preach in London. In the King's employ and even at his right hand are secret followers, butting heads with the Catholics of the realm, one side hoping to hold their favor, the other hoping to destroy it.
