The world as it was known is gone. It has been for quite some time; so long, in fact, that it is no longer the world it once was. Rather it is a world of the future, a world of change. This, is a world of kings, kingdoms and castles, of heroes.

Your king is little more than the man who holds the deed a tiny blue speck in the grand cosmos. He rents his property out to be built up into an odd conglomeration of interstellar truck stops and tourist resorts for a sum of the profits. He pays the patrols that mow down stragglers and nomads alike.

Kingdoms are a shade smaller than three square miles of relative salvation that isn't much more comfortable than the knowledge that out in the wilds you will, one day, likely be shot down.

The castles are float bastions with bellies full of alien cargo and at times, they do fall. On that rare occasion there's an even rarer chance that in the event of said fall, some of that cargo will survive. And the heroes? The heroes are men and women, men and monsters, struggling to survive the regime of the truck stop king.

They eat, they sleep, they cuss, they fight and most of all they dream. They dream of storming those castles. They dream of rendering those kingdoms obsolete. They dream of defeating their truck stop king but most of all they dream of surviving to see the next morning. Battles, after all, are won a day at a time.
