Re: Ask a question; pass it on (3)
I wouldn't say so. Even if we carry our food and are in our 'shelter' we aren't all that better of. A simple example here, if a storm comes we are far worse of than you could be. We can sink and drown or be thrown of a mast, or swept of the deck!
Our work is intense and doesn't stop just because the night had fallen! Not to mention lasses. You can have them following your camp all the time, our sailors have to do with that when on shore leave. And climbing up the masts, that's very dangerous in strong winds all of its own. As far as fresh food goes, is it not easier for the army to get hold of it, than us, too?
Why do you believe that less people die at sea, than they do on land?

40 years old, my dear, although it does not seem all that long ago that I was 25.

The first meal I ate after a long convalescence with fever. I don't even recall exactly what it was, only that there was much fruit. But anything tastes wonderful after days of gruel!

Re: Ask a question; pass it on (3)
Have to what? Oh. Retreat. Well, yes, if you's outgunned 'cause you managed to run into a bigger ship. Ain't no shame in that after all. Better to run away from a seventy-four when you'm only n a frigate, 'cause elsewise you'd only get pounded into matchwood, and that wouldn't do nobody any good, would it?
