For those of you who have seen the new Wiki and want to play around, here are some tips. To see all or any of these in action, look at Thompson's page for more. It is possible to toggle between the default Visual (WYSIWYG) mode and Source (showing all the code) style. It is also possible (and recommended!) to preview before submitting an edit or page. Edits and pages show right away and are immediately browsable.

It is not necessary to create an account to start editing and using the Wiki, but I recommend you do

Section Title Here
gives a new Wiki-style section title, complete with underlining - just remember to press Enter/Return after the second ==. If you want to add a picture, for example when creating a character page, I would insert a blank line before putting in the first section title, to give room for the picture's code, so that everything goes into the right place first time. It is possible to put in pictures almost anywhere, but you may have to switch to Source mode and move the picture's code in order to get the layout to look right.

I have been using character pictures of 150x200 pixels, at 100% magnification. When adding pictures for anything else, I have used thumbnails of 300 pixels wide on the page.

To add in a Wiki-style hyperlink, type link name here. For example, to put in a link to Vickery's page, just type John Vickery where you want the text link to go. If you want the text to read anything other than his name, it's done like this: Captain Vickery - the link will go to the page 'John Vickery' but the text will read 'Captain Vickery'.

To add in a reference (for example, a reference to a thread here), it's . In other words, the link title followed by the URL of the link, inside tags. At the bottom of the page, put <references/> - possibly in a separate section. This tells the wiki to look for all <ref> tags and grab the titles and URLs, sticking in handy clickable numbers, creating a nice neat footnote section. For my characters, I've linked to threads and called the references section 'Referenced Threads'

Make use of the categories box that pops up at the bottom (it shows up once a page is created). This creates a link on a categories page, allowing users to browse through, for example, a list of the Royal Marines aboard Terpsy. A list of current categories are:

60th Rifles ~ For characters who are in or attached to the 60th
Army ~ For characters and NPCs in the Army
Background Information ~ Used for general information
Characters ~ For played characters
Civilians ~ For civilian NPCs and characters, eg Emma Vickery
Non-Player Characters ~ For NPCs such as Sam Oxley
Officers ~ For officer NPCs and characters such as Vickery
Other Ranks ~ For military and navy characters and NPCs who aren't commissioned officers
Riflemen ~ For characters and NPCs in the Rifles
Royal Marines ~ For characters and NPCs in the Marines
Royal Navy ~ For characters and NPCs in the Navy
Terpsichores ~ For characters and NPCs aboard Terpsy
Timeline ~ Used for any of the year pages
