Plot stew: Ingredients needed...

Post by Sharpiefan on Wed Feb 01, 2012 4:38 pm

So...

This is going to be a place to suggest those stories and plots you'd like to play out, or see played out. If you've got any ideas for situations you want to throw your character/s into, put them up here! Large plots or small, this thread's for all!

Frigate action: Terpsy and unknown French ship - Terpsy ends up rescuing some British prisoners
Land battle or skirmish with the French (hoping to get to Talavera soon, but we could have an AU fight before then...)

Just a question, but would an AU fight with the French take a long time and only push back when we can do the big T ? Wouldn't it be better to just go to the main battle? Im guessing that will last quite awhile.

Either way though, Im up for such things.

The way we've done fights in the past, they've not taken that long to play out. It's going to take a while to get to Talavera whether we include a skirmish or not, at the rate things have been going. I'm just looking to try to inject a little more interest in proceedings for people, that's all.

If people have things they'd rather play out instead of a skirmish, that's cool too. Just let the rest of us in on it! Very Happy

Just to let people know that at sea that pesky French frigate has been spotted again, so there will be action by the bucket-load aboard the good HMS Terpsichore.

If you don't have a character at sea, now is the perfect opportunity to make one! We have plenty of room for Marines and seamen.

Ahh, a naval battle, sounds interesting.

I can volunteer to NPC some of the French crew to provide a little opposition for your navy chars.

You know...red shirts, like in Star Trek. Very Happy

Question: Does the French frigate which is about to turn and fight the Terp have a name? I would like to do a post on board and giving it a name would be helpful for me, thanks!

She's the Néréide, 36 guns - and she was in company with Victorieuse, which the Terpsy took a while ago. This is the second time this ship has been spotted; we couldn't close her to fight before due to a storm blowing up. She's also carrying some British prisoners - sailors and Marines. Not sure how many, though.

(The British sailors can't seem to pronounce her name, so they refer to her the Nerry-id and various other attempts at the name.)

Does it have to be the Néréide? (Again?)

PS - Aww, I kind of miss the old Berry and Sparrow threads with the Néréide. (I think that's the only place that ship was ever mentioned, right? Besides my Daubigny bio, and I'm not planning on playing him in this new French ship.) Can those old threads be made visible? They were fun.

So the ship was used before then in the story a long time ago?

Yep. Back before we had the Terpsichore. We erased that history and started over with the Terpsy. But I don't think the Nereide has been mentioned or seen again in this new history. Unless it was mentioned in passing and I missed it.

We had a French ship mentioned as being spotted, after we took the Victorieuse... but she was never named. And I like the Nereide, and thought there was no harm in unnamed ship being the Nereide. That's all.
