Bump on the Head - discussion
Ok, so. Some folks have expressed a possible interest in an ambush happening in the Bump on the Head thread. Any ideas on how/where/when (or if) this should happen?
(Also, just for time clarification, the thread is set in the early morning, so it is light out.)

I'm kind of busy and stressed and brainless, so don't count on me.

No worries. *hugs * I can drag Foucheaux along or ex-machina him back to camp. Whatever/whenever you like.

Re: Bump on the Head - discussion
Or he can be horribly injured. Maybe he'll fall down a well or break a leg in a rabbit hole.
Actually I guess someone should be sent back to say that they've found the trail, right? So other searchers can call off their search in unrelated parts.

Re: Bump on the Head - discussion
Hope you will ... I wanted to write 'get better soon', but that's probably not quite the right phrasing. I hope you know what I mean anyway.

Re: Bump on the Head - discussion
Yes, I'm all for running into an ambush by the mean ol' Ports.
Maybe we spot a single Portuguese who then starts running, off we go on a chase, hoping to capture him for possible information. And he leads us into a trap then as more Portuguese show up to help him. We can have a grim little battle in the mountains. Just a thought...........
Oh, and it makes a lot of sense to send one man back to tell the camp about what the group knows before they set out to follow the English.

Re: Bump on the Head - discussion
I don't know if it makes a difference - but I just realized that in this thread the officers are talking about Seviere being bumped on the head, but they make no mention of the Portuguese ambush and stuff. But maybe they just don't realize the incidents were connected (or that he was involved in both).
Re: Bump on the Head - discussion
Sorry, maybe I'm confused but Seviere has not been involved in a Portuguese ambush. The closest I can think of was when he was part of a patrol of Frenchmen who found the badly tortured Etienne. So far Seviere has not seen any action - unless you count being throttled by Pye
Re: Bump on the Head - discussion
But he's getting ready to be involved in an ambush, right? (Bon soir, countryman!)
Re: Bump on the Head - discussion
If people want to go ahead with the Portuguese Ambush, I would suggest the officers just have a very bad memory of things or perhaps the first description of which boy they were talking about, was enough to describe him and be known by both, so further elaboration on who he was and what he took part of, was not needed? Unless there's been a further discussion on the lad that I've just missed! O.o;
Re: Bump on the Head - discussion
If there would be any reason not to say anything, for example if it would get somebody else into unnecessary trouble and there were no losses, there is a high chance that Prayon wouldn't file a report.
Re: Bump on the Head - discussion
Oui, Monsieur Daubigny, he is going to be involved in an ambush. I thought the reference was to something prior which was why I was confused.
If Seviere is being mentioned in another thread as being part of both incidents, I guess I havent read that one. Serves me right for not reading everything!

Re: Bump on the Head - discussion
Ah, right, I'd forgotten about that. But since the question in that thread was more one of Seviere's involvement with/knowledge of the escapees, the ambush detail may have simply been omitted because it wasn't strictly relevant (though I may be misremembering the context). Also, I'm not sure about the captain in that thread, but I know the other officer is from the cavalry and may not have been aware of all the details of what happened or who was involved in what.
The game time is a bit fluid, so I think we should be fine. If Marashar thinks Gfic's idea would be consistent with something Prayon would do, I am all for it.

Perhaps you could just post the links to the threats you are talking about respectively? I'm not sure whether I have back-read all.

Re: Bump on the Head - discussion
"Bump on the Head" appears to be about to crash into "Heading Back to Camp". "Heading Back to Camp" was started as a separate thread for a reason and at least one participant in that thread has expressed a wish not to continue in the "Bump on the Head" thread, so taking over this thread would be unfair.
That being said, it isn't as though our boys can ignore musket fire in the woods. I have posted having a partisan fire upon the group. Would people be ok with having the 17th and 86th chase after the Portuguese guy and allow the two threads to continue on their separate courses? If this is not ok with folks, please let me know; I am happy to delete/edit my post if something else would be preferable.

Re: Bump on the Head - discussion
Yeah, oops, that was me firing a shot. It's ok if they heard it, and I figured they sent Roux et al back to investigate - or maybe Roux came from another detachment. But yeah, please don't send everyone back to investigate. Go chase Portuguese instead.
(I was really stressed out last week, that's why I wasn't online much and didn't want to do a Portuguese ambush.)

Why do people dislike taking part in the bump on the head?

Re: Bump on the Head - discussion
I didn't dislike the thread. I started the thread. I was just having a really bad week last week and didn't want to be involved in an intense thread with the Portuguese ambush, so I got St Laurent to send Foucheaux back.
Just because the soldiers are complaining doesn't mean the players are complaining.

Re: Bump on the Head - discussion
Oh, ok. I still don't know if the Ambush will happen or how intense it will be or not.
Either way I do hope your week (this one at least and from this one on!) is now better!

Re: Bump on the Head - discussion
Sorry, that was me who went after the first shot. I just thought they must have heard it and that a shot behind their back was something they would have to investigate.
I'm perfectly happy with this threat, fighting the Portuguese. I even think that the other shot would add to the atmosphere for our chars, because they know that there is at least one other problem and that they can't risk getting stuck here, because the Portuguese might be already behind their back.
Hope your stress-level has dropped or will drop very soon!
